  • Spring is nearly here...

It's been such a long winter hasnt it? Having worked in a portakabin for the duration of it, with the loo in a barn (which is still being done up), and kettle in another barn I am glad I no longer have to wrap up and brave the cold. At one point the loo consisted of 2 wooden walls, a loose door and a blue plastic roof (so the builders couldnt see in from above). And the builders kept 'missing' the loo (not from above) so you had to stand in a puddle most of the time. I tell thee it was testing.

In the Sunday Observer magazine this weekend there was an interesting article on depression. The author highly recommends
5-HTP (a precursor to Serotonin) for depression, manic depression and sleep disorders and it has none of the accompanying side effects present with SSRIs or Prozac. It is also totally natural. Couple this with a good diet with all the omegas and rice, veg and fruit, low caffeine and alcohol and she is getting better. I would also suggest a really practical book for overthinkers. It's called 'Women who think too much' (although I know men who do it too!) I'm trying to use it as a bit of a bible. I think we think thinking is good, but it can be dangerously negative. For those of us living in relative luxury (loos in barns notwithstanding) we have a bit too much time to think about stuff.

  • Yippee it's friday..

...was going to write some stuff about overthinking today, but having drank a little too much vino last night with my sister in law, who is run ragged with nephews, i dont think i can stretch to thinking too much, which is a blessing.
I had the obligatory egg for breakfast to quell the hangover...thankfully said egg came from healthy free chickens from a friend in the village.

I sneezed all the way to work, huge sneezes which nearly blew my nose off... surely not hayfever yet?

It's worrying all this news of the dead swan in Scotland. In the long term though it might liberate imprisoned chickens, we cannot go on farming them the way we do. I loved watching Jim's farm. He bought a hundred factory hens; slowly they grew into happy plucky chickens, living out of an old caravan. But, then the fox kept getting them and so he had to cut down the nettles that the hungry fox was hiding in. Eee... I dont know it's a balancing act innit?

  • I'm worried about the font size and colour...

...but I cant do anything about it unless I upgrade and pay. I'm not ready for that just yet... but this is a step in the right direction...this morning I had no blog.

Revealing stuff on here, and the way I intend to, is all very much in the vein of reality tv. Perhaps we all are more used to revealing ourselves now. For instance today I saw a beautiful sparkling silver mercedes parked up on the verge of a busy country road. Beside it stood a man conspicuous and unprotected in a stridently red golfing jumper and white trousers (such bad clothes) having a wee. I found myself slowing down and as I passed him we both turned to look at each other, it was like a film in slow motion. He just carried on with the task in hand. I dont know what to think really. Good on him I suppose.

  • The start of something...

...bear with me, learning how to get my head round creating a web page for my blog...I am very excited about this.
